Cache Valley Teacher Made Paul McCartney a Guitar

Dave Jorgensen, a fifth-grade teacher and long-time fan of The Beatles, had some extra homework this summer. The Providence, UT resident built Paul McCartney a bass guitar, which was given to the rock-n-roll star when he played a concert at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Local television station KSL aired a feature about the guitar, which Jorgensen said took him 200 hours to complete. Jorgensen has been making guitars for about 20 years and usually completes one in six months. The McCartney guitar was part of a package of gifts Rio Tinto gave to the celebrity singer.

Jorgensen, who plays in a Beatles cover band called Get Back, plans to perform at the Utah State Fair, which is held from Sept. 9-19.
